Bosch Access Control System

Bosch Introduces a New Access Control System for Small and Medium Sized Businesses

Bosch has introduced Access Personal Edition, an easy-to-use, modular access system for small to medium businesses. The system is ideal for organizations – such as retail stores, office buildings, and manufacturing facilities – that require a high level of security but do not currently need a large-scale system.

The Access Personal Edition system supports up to 2,000 users, 64 readers, and 16 workstations and uses the Bosch designed and manufactured Access Modular Controller hardware platform, which communicates through TCP/IP and RS485. This platform gives users the option to scale up to a more advanced Bosch access control solution – the Access Control Engine of Bosch’s Building Integration System – without the expense of new hardware. Bosch’s Building Integration System is a comprehensive enterprise management software solution that is designed to integrate security, video and building automation capabilities for integrated management.

The Access Personal Edition solution includes: a data management system for personnel information, access profiles, scheduling, and visitor management; and up to 64 Access Modular Controllers that are able to make access control decisions even when offline. If a server system failure occurs, data will be saved by the Access Modular Controller hardware and synchronized with the server once it is back online. With this reliable server fail-safe functionality, users are assured that their facilities remain safe at all times.

Anti-passback capabilities and automatic card cancellation after expiration, give administrators the ability to protect against unauthorized use of access cards. Optional PIN code identification is also available for users that do not want to invest in access cards or that want an added layer of security in addition to cards.

Access Personal Edition is easy to operate with an intuitive Windows-based interface. Users can define access privileges, time schedules and door parameters to meet their specific needs. Once parameters for a door have been set, that model can be applied to multiple doors, cutting down the time required for system setup. Multi-user capabilities offer an added convenience, allowing administrators to log into the system from several workstations.

Dealers interested in the new offering can participate in a three-tiered training program for Access Personal Edition. A Webinar will provide an overview of the system, including unique selling features and benefits. A self-paced e-learning course will deliver details on the hardware and initial setup, and a hands-on instructor led course will give a review of installation, configuration and advanced programming and troubleshooting topics.
