Tips to Maintain CCTV Camera

CCTV camera is used extensively throughout the year. Since they are exposed to climatic changes and constant usage, it is important to maintain them periodically to have an extended life.

Tips to Maintain CCTV Camera

  • Blow the CCTV camera's lens periodically with a burst of compressed air.
  • Apply lens solution to the edge of a lens cleaning tissue. Wipe the lens with the edge of the tissue, using slow circular motions, starting from the center of the lens and ending when you reach the other edge.
  • Wipe the lens in the same manner, only this time with a dry edge of the tissue.
  • Apply distilled alcohol to the tip of a cotton swab. Rub the moistened tip of the swab around the connection on the back of the CCTV camera where the coaxial cable is screwed into the coax connection to remove loose dirt and grime.
  • Brush off the camera with a photo lens brush.
  • Place the jaws of a pair of pliers around the end of the coaxial cable where it meets the connection on the receiver. Twist the pliers clockwise to tighten the coaxial cable to improve the connection. Stop twisting the pliers once resistance is felt.
  • Plug an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) into the wall outlet. Remove the receiver's plug from the wall outlet and plug it into an AC outlet on the UPS. The UPS will now supply the receiver with operating power during an outage or if the electric grid should go down.
  • Remove the video cable from the receiver and from the TV. Apply distilled alcohol to the end of a cotton swab.
  • Rub the moistened end of the swab on the metal ring and metal nub that are at each end of the video cable to improve its connection.
These are a few tips to maintain your CCTV camera.
